Patients who have surgery for oral cancer and have paralysis of the throat muscles often have a percutaneous endoscopic gastroscopy (PEG) tube inserted because they cannot tolerate oral feedings. Unlike power infusion systems, the "Self Tube Feeder" uses gravity to control the flow of specialty formulated foods directly into the stomach.
The "Self Tube Feeder" stand is made from plastic tubing and molded fittings, it has non-marking, non-slip feet to keep it from sliding on the supporting surface. The clamp supports the feeding syringe and grips it tightly during use so it doesn't slip down. The springiness of the clamp allows the user to easily press the syringe into place & then remove it when it is empty.
Feeding syringes are not included, but are commercially availabe from healthcare suppliers. The 60 ml syringes are calibrated in 5 ml increments.
